Our Lakes Group Photo Shoot.

While planning our Live Link we discussed what we should wear, we decided suggesting to our members they could  wear a  period hats.

A search on the internet and we found this fantastic photo below.

The first WI, formed in 1915 in Anglesey. photo taken in 1920

We asked a good friend from Grasmere Players if she had any hats we could borrow, she said "Yes" but added the suggestion,

"Why don't you try to recreate the photo?"

So began a busy time, acquiring hats from charity shops, clothes from our wardrobes and costumes from The Grasmere Players.  The ladies in the photo were numbered and the hats matched and our local  WI members from Ambleside, Grasmere , Troutbeck and Bowness chose a lady they would like to become.

We acquired the Tithe Barn in Grasmere for a morning with the kind permission of the vicar , a cameraman was found and someone to photo shop the picture.

The day arrived, the ladies assembled, photos were taken.

Emma Boyd from the Westmorland Gazette arrived and more informal photos were taken for the paper.

Many hours/days  later the photo was transformed.

We are thrilled with it. The WI in Anglesey are delighted and sent us all the names of the ladies to put in our Programme for the AGM.
